“Make your next step your best step”
Our vision is to help youth Discover and Step into their purpose through access to training, tutoring, and mentors. With a supportive team, students learn to dig deep to find greater compassion for each other and to push the limits of what they thought they could do.
These youths will go into the world and make a positive impact in their communities. NSYL strives to lead and serve with compassion and to instill this desire in our youth. NSYL is inspired and equipped to lead boldly, serve generously and act with empathy.
We partner with professionals, and business owners to provide the training and guidance they need to CONFIDENTLY pursue A MEANINGFUL FUTURE.
Continual Learning – We believe in a willingness to learn new things that will enhance the skill set of our mentees(youth), mentors, and staff.
Objectivity – Real growth means receiving honest feedback which is essential to the long-term development of our youth and organization. Our mentors will challenge youth to be proactive about achieving attainable goals.
Authenticity – We value mentors with a genuine interest in helping youth on their journey because they see their potential and want to help bring it to fruition. Our mentors strive to guide youth in their discovery of what’s possible based on their own talents and drive.
Accessibility – Our success is based on the measurable advancement of youth therefore our mentors commit to engaging with youth regularly to assist them through their journey. Likewise, we encourage our mentees to be prepared, keeping their objectives top of mind and tracking their progress toward their goals.
Accessibility also means serving under-served communities, we strive to reach youth that is at the highest risk for juvenile delinquency.
At NSYL, we are committed to our mission, as are all who work for us or on our behalf. We will be true to, and act in the best interests of, that mission. As representatives of the organization, NSYL staff, board members, and volunteers will act with respect, integrity, and openness in all their dealings with donors, schools, teachers, volunteers, and, most importantly, the youth we serve.
